
Los Angeles specifically has been declared the new hotspot for COVID-19 in the US. Positive cases in Texas have more than doubled prompting all bars and taprooms to be shut down but restaurants may still operate dine-in at 50% capacity as well as delivery and pick-up options.Ĭalifornia has experienced a steady increase in positive cases for more than three weeks as businesses reopened. Florida, which has seen more than a five times increase in positive cases in just two weeks, the highest in the country, has closed all restaurants, bars, and taprooms again. In response to the significant rise of cases, some states have taken extreme measures to prevent further spread of the virus. In just the last week, dozens of restaurants and bars have closed in Florida, Texas, and California alone. Since restaurants, bars, and taprooms began to re-open there has been a contestant trickle of establishments that had to close due to positive COVID-19 cases. Only a handful of states are reporting a decline in positive cases as most of the US has seen an unprecedented rise in cases. Friday, June 26th saw 45,242 new cases of COVID-19, the largest single-day increase since the pandemic began. National levels of confirmed cases are almost back to peak levels seen two to three months ago.
